There's nothing negative to say about your first day on water for a new season! Okay, maybe it was a bit cold (50 degrees), intermittent light rain and the overcast skies and light wind made it even chillier, but still a great day. P. wore his "hair" pants (insulated jeans with heavy fleece lining so he was pretty comfortable and two of us wore full rain pants and jackets once on the water which helped alot).
We fished 11:15-3:00. K boated 2 trout within the first ten minutes, so we thought it was going to be fast and furious. (Well it might have been if we'd buttoned up. Each of us had three bites that didn't connect.) P. boated one rainbow, and I boated one bass on a vintage Johnson Spoon which was a fun surprise. No big fish....(I think boat barbecued hotdogs were bigger than most of the fish) but it was still a fun day. Especially at the end when K invoked Red Green and P and K took off on Possum Lodge banter while boating the last fish of the day. Body count 3, 1, 1.
We were the only ones on the lake the entire time aside from two pairs of mallard ducks - until the very end when two boats arrived as we were leaving. Perfect.
