It's been awhile since I put up a report. Been busy with a move, 2 major rockhounding trips and a seminar series I am doing on Foraging in the Inland Northwest.

This report is for the upper section of Long Lake. We tried a lot of areas from the confluence all the way down to the alfalfa fields. We marked a lot of fish everywhere but we only caught at the confluence. Went out with my gf and a buddy fishing only 1 pole each.

The key today was working the Eddys at the confluence with jigs. Special shout-out to the boat master, one of my favourite fishing buddies, Eli. We spent the last two weeks moving into a new house.
I missed most of the walleye spawn and the morel hunting season and had to get the heck out of the house before I lost my mind. Called him at 8am. Made plans in the next 5 minutes and we met him at his place at 9:30 a.m. We were on the water by 10:30 a.m. and had our first fish by 10:45. We spent a lot of time trying all the different areas but really the confluence was the key spot. Throwing jigs at the ledges and bringing back. Ended the day with five fat walleye, one smallmouth bass, and we threw back a 4 lb Pike minnow and a 4 lb sucker. We didn't even get one limit but considered it a pretty successful day considering all the territory we covered.

What worked:
Paddletails or a worm on 3/8 oz jigs
Patience
Using the gas motor to slowly drift downstream.... The current is crazy fast.
Having a good friend to chat with all day

What didn't work:
Bottom walkers with slow death hooks or spinner rigs
Any plug 8 to 15 ft range
Going anywhere else when you already found fish at one spot.
