We were in Conconully 6-15-22-6-17-22 and fished unsuccessfully for kokanee in both lakes there (report submitted). In talking to other campers and locals in town, many suggested Spectacle Lake as the place now for kokanee. I had never fished there, but I talked to a young man who was a cashier at North 40 in Omak, and he had fished there the two days prior, and he said to fish at the east end of the lake - he said the west end wasn't productive for kokanee.

I started fishing around 12:30 and was off the water at 3:30, so I didn't give it a lot of time, but I did find kokanee. I was circling from the launch at the campground toward the east end, and finally started getting bites almost directly in front of the campground. The kokanee I was marking were all deeper, around 35-45'. I had bites that didn't hook up, lost a few fish, and ultimately netted three kokanee that were about 14-15" and fat. Three fish was enough for a meal, so I packed up and headed home.

I enjoyed fishing Spectacle and hope to return.
