Me and my dad finally got our skunk off! Headed out to Jefferson head by the Bouey in around 600 ft of water. Head a fish on in 20 minutes but lost him at some point between hook up and taking the rod out of the rigger. We trolled south and had a near double header, but neither took the hook properly. Finally, in the last ten minutes before we decided to pack up, we had a subtle take on the rod. Out of the rigger and sure enough, a fish! There was no fight in this one because he was hook badly in the gills. Probably half bled out when we bonked him. I've definitely learned a lot these past two years. Identifying tide rips unfortunately has not been one of those skills, especially with wind chop and wake trails mixing it up. The trick was ~40 feet deep, in 150-200 feet of water with good bait on the fish finder. Fish was caught around 8 am
