Just when you think you'll catch the most, you don't but a basic day of fishing is far better than a day in the office, right? No complaints really as we caught and released 66 The body count was pretty high as was the temperatures. Outdoor temp 80 degrees and a calm lake or occasional light breeze. Had to dip the hat in the water a couple of times to not overheat. 73 water temp and a busy lake....lots of visitors to the Park, but for all the boating and swimming activity the noise level was really low. Quiet and peaceful - which is part of what we seek on these excursions.

Started at 11 and wrapped at 3:15pm with a quick stop in the shade for a ham sandwich lunch. Today we trolled only briefly, knowing the trout had gone deeper and the bass would be along the shorelines. K wore out his arm and was sore from casting so much. I had a good day being "on the money" with my casts. That's always fun and rewarding and far fewer tree retrievals to boot.

By the time we wrapped, no one had landed a real big fish, but I'd say P and K were tied with a nice modest bass each. But the one we saw!!! Wow, it was easily a 5-7 pounder. Years ago I learned about Kleptoparasitism....where a hooked fish is followed by 1-3 others...eager to steal what the hooked fish has. We always watch for Kleptos and two big ones followed P's lure and bass in. Sure would have liked to have had that one on. P and K think we had two trout on that got away, And despite my great casts all day, I was definitely not holding my mouth right because I lost a ton of fish.

K caught and released 11 (10 bass and 1 pumpkinseed), I had 15 (1 pumpkinseed and 14 bass) and P boated 40 total (1 pumpkinseed and 39 bass.) Amazingly he used the same lure the entire day. I don't think he'll be able to find that lure next time he heads out to fish. LOL.
