Took Mike with me to the Arm. We spent the morning looking for weedbeds in the Porcupine Bay area. My first cast yielded a nice 23 inch eye that was released. Mike and I were casting black jig heads with 3.5 inch perch swimbaits into the weedbeds and ripping them all the way back to the boat. This technique worked well as we caught around 22 eyes. Mike and I both caught 8.25lb eyes that were released. We also released two 22 inch eyes and three 21 inch eyes. Our final act was trolling spinners. A blue smile blade with a 1.5 ft leader was most productive. We caught an easy dozen trolling with most being dinks. I would have cleaned 15 nice eyes instead of 14 but one nice 19 inch eye actually jumped out of my livewell as I was trying to grab it to cut its gills. Most of the eyes I cleaned had stomachs full of little baby crayfish in them.

Well if it can be done a hot day it figures you would be the one to do it. Thanks for the report.

Part-Time Sunday's weather wasn't too bad. It was 50 degrees when I launched. Surprisingly, there weren't that many boats out on Porky. I hadn't been able to get out for the last three weeks so yesterday was quite enjoyable and we were off the water before it got Africa hot.

Morrow - Never seems to be enough time to get out as often as I would like to. Life and work have a way to make things more complicated .
