Got out to the Arm this morning. Same pattern as my last trip. Caught about 25 eyes. Released a 22 incher, an 8 lber and an 8.5 lber. Cleaned 17 nice eaters. Watermelon red flake grubs were the ticket. The bite was over by 0900.

Well you are on them for sure. Keep it up.

Finally got my boat into a waiting line for a new outboard. My old Suzuki started giving me problems in June. 100's of $$ later it's still not right so out with the old and in with the new. Hopefully I'll get after them in Sept.

What brand is your replacement going to be? I have been surprised at the size of eyes the eyes I have caught the last two trips to the Arm. Not complaining mind you.

Getting. Merc 4stroke. The old Suzuki was great and trouble free until one day in June. The dealer I bought it from 19 years ago retired (one man shop) and I'm not to happy with the local shop. Im to old to not have a 100% reliable motor (single motor boat) especially on Rosevelt in the winter. Lots of $$ on an old beat up boat but you only go around once! :-)

BRADF - Having spent six and a half hours one February trying to get back to Porky from buoy 5 using only a 17 lb thrust trolling motor on my buddies boat, I do know the value of a reliable motor. Oh yeah, his paddle broke after three strokes so we used the cooler lid. Had to pull the boat with a rope the last mile from on shore.

:-) Been there /done that-sort of......in the mid -late 70's ?? I took a wheelchair bound friend up to Outhouse beach in Feb for some winter eye fishing. Lost the lower unit on an old Evenrude Lark on a 16' boat. In those days most folks had CB's on their boats. I had a good friend living in 7 Bays at the time. After about the third call to him as I headed towards the mouth of the river with the electric another 7 bays guy told me my friend had went towards the dam that morning. I explained my situation. Some folks there went to the airport and dug out a boat, launched it and came to the rescue with a tow rope and a jug of BV. :-). Made some new friends that day.

We were the only boat on the Arm that day. Luckily there was no wind and the temp got up to 32F.
