Took a buddy from work out to Potholes. Dan was up from NC and had never been walleye fishing. We started off jigging some humps. He caught a 3lb largemouth on a pink/yellow hair jig on his first cast. That was the only fish we caught all day on a jig. I caught a 2lb smallie on a casting spoon. We started trolling smile blades shortly after. The most productive time was between 0830 and 0930. We had a 100 yard stretch on the edge of the sand dunes where we caught most of our eyes. A green smile blade with a green/chartreuse float was the most productive. Pink and gold blades also produced. We caught 30 + eyes, 3 bass and only 1 bullhead. No perch or bluegills. We could have had a 16 fish double limit of 15 to 20 inch eyes by 0930 but Dan couldn't take any with him and I only wanted 5 for a meal. I cleaned 5 nice eaters.
