Merwin's tiger musky fishing usually shuts down in early October when the water temp drops below about 64 degrees, but due to this year's long spell of hot weather, the water is still warm enough (my buddy and I fished in t-shirts all week), and while we didn't get much action while the lake was flat calm, the wind picked up Saturday and put a chop on the lake, and he got a follow to the boat from a 20-lb. fish and a few minutes later I caught one of about 15 lbs. on a bucktail, which proves they're still hitting lures as of mid-October. At the rate the lake water is cooling off, I think the tiger muskies will remain fishable for another week or so.
