I went out to Black lake this morning near Olympia. I had seen big trout jumping this summer and I was hoping they'd be ready to bite now. Fish were biting, but not the huge ones. I got on the water around 7 in the cold, wind and rain. Caught the first rainbow around 7:15 and then caught 3 more until about 8:45 then the bite died. I had a huge line tangle that wasted 15-20 minutes of prime fishing time or I probably would have landed one or two more (my kayak spins around when I'm landing fish and the lines tangle). A Blue Fox spinner was the winning lure this morning, though I caught one nice trout on my old faithful Lil Cleo spoon. I didn't see any sign of bass or rock bass. I don't know why they didn't stock bluegill in here, there's a lot of good habitat for them at the end of the lake. Good day in spite of miserable conditions, luckily I had a ton of layers on.
