I took my friends Don and Pat out today. We were on the Arm by 0800 and had our first eye in the boat within 10 minutes. They were both new to casting jigs in current for eyes and after a crash course and a couple dozen jigs they got the hang of it. My trolling motor batteries bit the dust on Friday evening so drifting and casting in 1.5 to 2 mph current without a trolling motor was a challenge. For the day we caught at least 25 eyes, 5 smallies and 2 trout. We cleaned 17 really nice eaters. I caught two 9s and Pat caught a 6. His PB walleye. A variety of soft plastics on 3/8 oz jigs were used all day. We released at least 7 oversized eyes. We lucked out in that the muddy water had cleared up but still had stained water with 3 foot visibility. Unfortunately we heard that the water coming through Little Falls dam is once again chocolate milk. Yeah for us.
