Wind was a little bit less than yesterday. Wanted to fish the other side of the lake today. Instead of going with the wind though, I went against it. Manageable.
Started off with jerkbait. 3rd cast in and fish on! A chunky LMB in very shallow water. I get it to boat side and it comes off. Looked nice and round but probably just under 2#.
Then next cast, fish on! This time I can see it's a smallie and average 2# size too. Thinking I'm onto something. Then it was quiet for an hr or so until I got more hits. Stuck with the jerkbait during this stretch.
Eventually caught 2 more smallies about 1# ea and a nice perch.
I go across the lake and check out Fart Hole. Seemed quiet at first. So I rotated to the dropshot since wind was minimal at this side of the lake. 1st cast with the DS and fish on! Another nice at least 2# smallie. Then it was quiet there. Worked my way along the bank and got this 3.32# largie on the dropshot! Biggest fish of the day.
Wind starts rippling the water again and I start jerking once again. Caught 2 more smallies and another nice largie right at 2.5#. The largie had the lure pop off when it pulled me into the weeds but somehow the lure caught the side of the largie and managed to get it into the net. I know it was in the mouth originally because it was a short cast and I clearly saw the lure when it jumped after the hookset.
All the fish on jerkbait were caught very shallow. 5' or less
Only caught 2 on the dropshot in about 12' of water.
