Headed down to Lake Sammamish to fish for those ever elusive cutthroat trout. We started fishing at 9am and quit at 3pm, so a good 6 hours fishing. The first question is always which end of the lake to start at. We started a few hundred yards from the boat launch. WHile letting out our first line, it was fish on before before we could even think about the second line. We continued trolling up the lake and caught another near the old 7-11 store. As we continued up the lake, we went by the water tester and had another one on. We had a couple of bites that came off but after that, it was like every 15-30 minutes another fish on. We trolled all the way up to the Redmond end and back as far as the water tester again and ended the day with 15 fish. 2 or 3 were kokanee and the rest were cutthroats. Most were 16 inches or so with a couple of smaller ones. We had a double one time during the day. We have so many salmon/halibut in the freezer, we do not keep any of these fish but return them to the lake for next time out. Great day of fishing. Not one other boat out all day long, it is sure nice to be retired and go when no one else does. The fish were in the top 20 feet of water and we troll lures. Sometimes it doesn't seem to matter which one. Od Goat, an old green flatfish, a needlefish, all worked about equally.
