WDFW gave the go ahead couple days before February 15th for a smelt dip from 8AM to 1PM. We did the last minute call on the morning of the opener do drive to down to the Cowlitz River for the smelt dip. We arrived around noon at Kelso and saw lots of netters having not much luck. We gave couple dips but only managed 1 smelt. We decided to go up river to Castle Rock and found the smelt.
