My son and I fished out of Point Defiance from about 8am to 12 pm. The tides were high 9:15am at 9.8 feet with low at 5.8 feet 2:40pm. Water temp was 57 degrees. It was mostly cloudy around 70 degrees. A little breeze.
We headed towards Owens Beach using the electric trolling motor. It was the only time we could use it. We were going about 2.7mph in 84 feet of water. My son was at 40 on the downrigger I was at 60. It looked like there was squid on the fish finder with a few other marks also. I was getting my camera ready when my son said he had one on. We were using a small piece of squid on our lures.
We went from 40 to 100 feet on the downrigger in 80 to 450 feet of water. Speed was from 2.7 to 3.4mph. But that was the only fish. Not even a shaker or bites.
We did get to see a porpoise that I could not get a picture of. The Orcas I did manage to get a second of. It is hard to zoom in and hold steady with waves rocking the boat.
