We started fishing about 9:30am on the outgoing tide high was 7:23am 10.7 feet and low would be at 1:06pm. We trolled from the Clay Banks to the boat at Point Ruston. We tried to keep the speed at 2.8-3.4 but I did go up to 4 mph.
The water temperature started at 58 and went to as high as 61. It was a sunny day and the water was flat until we got to a current by the Clay Banks and Point.
We were 40-80 feet on downrigger in 130 feet of water to 560.
I had been telling my son that I watched a video where the guy, one day, could only get a bite going north and south. So, he turned north and I got a bite so I brought it up but just the little piece of squid I put on it was gone. I cut another piece and put it on then deployed my gear again. Letting it down the line comes out of the clip. I hate it when that happens. Turn the switch on the downrigger to up (thank goodness for electric riggers) and try reeling the line in and it was a fish! We tried to repeat the same but it didn’t happen.
We stopped about 1:30-2pm.
