I was part of a foursome that fished Jameson lake on opening day.
We arrived the night before to join the couple hundred other
campers at the State campsite. There were about a hundred boats
beached along the shoreline. This lake gets a lot of pressure on
opening day, but because of its size, number of launches and abundance
of shoreline, it can handle the pressure. We got up around 5:30am
and were out on the lake a little after 6:00am. When we got up the
wind was blowing and it was raining. While launching the boat we
had a downpour. We motored out to our favorite spot and then threw
out a few different colors of Powerbait. A little before 7:00am we
had the first fish in the boat, a fat 15 incher. It rained for another
hour or so and then started to clear up. At 11:40am we had our limit of
20 fish. The fish were either 11-12 inches(1yr olds) or 14-15
inches(2 yr olds). The winning color of Powerbait was fluorescent
green(17 fish caught). Next was fl. orange(2 fish caught), and last was
fl. red(1 fish caught). From our observation, just about every boat
around us was doing just as well. Some people were doing well with
Velveeta cheese and red salmon eggs.
