I was amazed by the beauty, convenience, and close proximity of this very small, man made lake. It is maintained by local private citizens of the community of Innis Arden, and they practice catch and release on this lake. Misuse of their rules will indefinitely lead to full privatization of the lake, so obey the rules.

This is a man made lake that was dredged out of Boeing Creek which provides both inlet and outlet to the lake continues furthers for a mile before its estuary with the pacific ocean. A modified dam creates the outlet, and has seal/sea lion barriers on it.. When the lake overflows in the rainy season, its residents, historically cutthroat, and now 200 introduced mainly silver and some coho salmon re-enter the lake. Whether Boeing Creek is sufficient to reproduce in I really could not say. What I can say about this lake is that if you feel like going after salmon juveniles to 10-11" this is an option.

I quickly got a strike on a sparsely tied soft hackle near the inlet. Unfortunately, he popped the tippet and the other soft hackles (orange) did not interest him or the other residents. Going back to the "old school," I trolled a Mickey Finn to get a couple of strikes from some very elusive fish. As dusk fell, very tiny midges began to emerge from the water in sizes 20 and up. I tried a floating midge emerger--no dice! You may want to try body colors brown or even blended with crème tones for pupae and emergers. It may even be worthwhile to try scuds. The caretaker has introduced a variety of plant and aquatic insects to the lake in the hope that they will take. Be creative when fishing this lake and good luck!
