Showed up around Noon. There were a couple of people on the lake, but not too crowded for a weekend. The dock was pretty full though. Put in with my raft, and headed for the west end of the lake. I used a black and olive woolly bugger, that I tied myself, for most of the day. The recipe was formulated after visiting a couple of Italian websites on flyfishing (record trout for Northern Italy). This version received tons of strikes. One lost half its tail. The downside was that I netted only one; a couple of hits were set but lost. The best was a biggy off the dock. It jumped a couple of times, but, because I lost tension, it tossed the hook. It had to have been around 14+ inches. By the end of the day, it seemed that people who used green/chartreuse powerbait did best, though not frequently or strictly by size. I guess that's Pine Lake's color for the season. Still, too many 8-10" planters are running interference for the big ones. I want carry-overs! Email me for the Italian woolly bugger recipe, if interested.
