Fished the lake for the first time ever. Good news: Lots of hungry rainbows
grabbing size 10 olive buggers with a collar of flash. Bad news: They lock
the gate before that mystery Jacuzzi hatch happens. It took me 20 minutes to
row to the boat launch in order to get my truck out before lock-up. No
matter how fast I rowed the rainbows could still catch me. Ridiculous news:
The number of baiters was appalling. Both Saturday and Sunday, at least 25
individual and group poaching parties had their forked sticks and Easter egg
colored power bait going full throttle. Nobody was trying to hide and every
fish caught was kept, or worse, tossed back dead in hopes the local raptors
would swoop down and "Give the kids a show". I know the state is
short-handed when it comes to enforcement, but to call this lake "quality"
shames any fly shop that makes this claim and the Washington Dept. of Fish
and Game. Please WDFG, if you wont enforce your laws let the bait bunch have
this lake it's obvious they already do) and make the lakes of the west side
that you don't plant our true quality water.
