Today I fished Sammamish in my little 9 foot plastic boat. A guy in a bass boat said his club had a small tournament yesterday and no one caught a fish so the fishing was hard. I fished from about 6:30 am-1:00 pm. Right b4 I was about to leave, I fished the 2 logs sticking out of the water, to the right of the state park boat launch. I cast a twin tail hula grub on a football head jig over near the wood. I sank and I felt some weight on the end of the line. I set the hook and my drag immediately started to sing. There is some thick weeds under the logs and the bass got all up in that stuff. I must of fought it for 5 minutes, mostly because it was hung up. I knew I set the hook on a fish but I started to think I didn't have a fish, until with all the weight on my pole, it stripped drag quickly with short jerks. It was awesome. I finally drove the boat around the other side and it finally came free. I pulled in a 3.9 lb largemouth in with about 5 lbs of weeds near the boat. I easily grabbed the bass. It was a nice fish, 19 inches long. I was going to go back to the sunken forest to try for more log bass, but I only got a 3.3 hp motor and didn't want to drive over that way. Well that's my report, only one fish but it was a Blast!
