started around 7am - only two others out on a perfect sunny Sunday! slow to start, using #18 - #14 chronos, mainly black and brown. As sun warmed up the water I kicked up to the s/w end in ~15 yards. from shore over the weed beds - just across from the nice waterfront house. Calibaetis started around 12'ish.
Had plenty of surface action with parachutes and sparkle duns - #14's. Good strong fish, avg. 16 to 18", pretty markings too. One monster snapped 4x when doing a surface acrobatic dance.
another very effective pattern for Calibaetis emerger pattern is grey ostrich for body, with elk or deer flared and slanted slightly forward for thorax/wing. It rides tailend subsurface but the elk helps the upper half stay above water.
After a good 2 hr stretch of the dries, I headed down to the "bass pond" for a relaxing "change of pace afternoon". (the one past the Lenice lot).
Hooked up a few lrg. mouth using a olive bh.wolleybugger quick strip retrieve from reeds.
