Weather was good, just enough sprinkles to keep the dust down. Fished many of the lakes. Being an beginner fly casting enthusiast, I wasn't expecting much. But I was in for a surprise! Olive wooly bugger sz. 10 with tinsel streamers had fish chasing it for over an hour. Hooked many, but wasn't able to land them! Reel backlash and fish spitting the fly 3 feet in front of me. In the evening I switched to a muddler minnow, sz. 10. My buddy was angling with power bait on the bottom, watching fish rise behind/around the fly as I reeled it in. He told me I'd better catch something on that rod, then left for camp bummed out... Will be back later this year, for some more action. I was able to resist breaking out my hardware rods on this trip. Maybe I'll learn how to strike better between now and then!
