Hit the lake at 730am. My girlfriend's brother Bob hooked the
first fish on nightcrawler. Might have been a triploid, it was at least
16". As an emerging flyfisherman, I was casting a scud for the heck of it, not knowing what type of insects hatch here. As soon as he started hitting fish, I immediately gave up on that and started fishing with bait. These fish were so new that they were hitting our bobbers on the surface and chasing them around, finning everywhere. It was rather amusing. We had
TONS of action, and both took our limits in about 3 hours. I'm going to head up there again soon and try fly casting (again). Hopefully since I've been sated by a day of good fishing, I won't be tempted to use bait this time!
