My friend and I (Mike Hargitt) started off at about 8:00 a.m. in the morning. We went out in a Sea Eagle rubber raft, so he paddled and I trolled. I used a wedding ring and he used a flatfish. We started at the north end of the lake and trolled south we didn't have any luck until we got near the lily pads at the south end. He hooked up with a small but well fighting 9" bass near some stumps. Our boat was losing air so we decided to stop the boat at a area at the south end. We got out and I traded my wedding ring for a orange flatfish. I put a tiny slipshot weight on it and tipped the hook with a small chunk of nightcrawler. I cast it out and almost immediately caught a little 8" perch. I figured it was just luck (since I never catch crap at that lake) so I decide to cast it back out. Again I caught another. Within the first hour I had caught 3 nice size perch ranging from 8"-12" all using the flatfish. I was sorta getting tired of the little buggers so we headed back
out in the boat. Soon within 5 minutes I caught a 10" bluegill. So we trolled the rest of the way back to the north end with no luck. Over all we had a good time and alright fishing (for Silver Lake). I guess the key is the south end! If u have patience Silver Lake can be somewhat productive.
