As I am currently boatless, I couldn't do much where we camped on Sullivan lake. So I hopped in the mini van and headed over the river
(Pend Orielle) and headed west to Big Meadows. Nice place and great for viewing all sorts of wildlife. saw a bear cub on the way to the lake and was not interested in visiting his mother so I drove on.
The lake has been well managed with a nice public dock. apparently it was stocked a year ago with rainbow smelt and they have grown well.
My first hit was a beauty of what looked like a Brown and after he pulled off a poorly tied knot and swam a way I decided to release him. haha. within a couple hours I had my limit of nice rainbows. The may flies were hatching and driving me crazy but did not seem to temp the fish much as I saw little surface action. I caught the Bows on a nightcrawler and yellow power bait to make it float and smell good with a sink four to five feet from bait. hope to go back for the Big brown when I can get a boat. all in all great lake.
