My mom visited from Wisconsin and I took her out fishing lake Samm from 7:30am to 11am. We hit three of my favorite spots, trolling for rainbow trout. We tried everything in my tackle box (well, a lot anyway). Trolled from 20 to 50 feet deep and did not get one strike. I was kinda surprised to say the least. I can usually get a couple nice fish each time I go there. But my mom enjoyed the ride so it wasn't a wasted trip.
The only low point of the day was at the mouth of the Issaquah creek. Salmon jumping all over, and sure enough there were three "anglers" there trying to catch these fish. I watched them for a few minutes, sweeping their lures in an obvious attempt to snag a fish. "I hope you're not trying to snag those fish" I commented. "Who are you- a game warden?" one replied. "Just a concerned sportsman", I said. "Well we are not snagging, we are jigging, and it's none of your business." So not wanting to make a scene with my mom in the boat, we left. I drove around to the park office and notified the park ranger that some guys were practicing horizontal jigging techniques on the salmon. He said he would check into it. As we left the park I looked back at the creek and noticed the jerks had left. Small satisfaction anyway. Really irritated me to see those morons snagging and to have the gall to say they were jigging (in any case the darn creek is closed to fishing anyways but I didn't think about that till later). errrrrrr!
