I decided to stop by Heart Lk. on the way back from deer hunting. Weather was sunny, calm and about 50. Perfect fishing weather this time of year! I've fished Heart 3 times this Spring and Summer and did poorly, so had just about given up on this lake. I was in the water about 15 min. fishing marshmallow and a chunk of nightcrawler and had my first fish on. Nice 15 inch fat rainbow that fought like crazy. I cast out and had another one on in about 5 min. This one 18" and super fat. This fish jumped and ran all over the place. I picked up one more 15" before it got dark. The next day I walked into some of the walk in lakes nearby and caught about 15 nice rainbows fishing a homemade spinner. It was sunny and a bit windy, but almost shirt sleeve weather most of the day. It was great to enjoy the sun and watch the many flocks of geese winging by. The forecast was for rain and snow the next day, so I headed back home with 7 nice trout.
