A beautiful "Fall" day here, and a great way to start the last weekend of the Summer. Not a cloud, clear blue sky and warm bass water. My partner and I got on the lake at around 4:00pm. Water temperature in our honey hole was 67 degrees. By sunset it was around 64 degrees. Saw a few trout fishermen, a few other bass fishermen and bunches of water skiers and jet skiers. We ignored their wakes and tried our luck. We caught and released quite a few small bass just cruising and casting the shoreline, then my secret, home-made bait was freight-trained by a 5 lb. largemouth that had been lurking in some weed beds. I've caught bass weighing several pounds more, but I've never had one yank so hard on my pole. For a minute I thought I finally had my wall mounter trophy bass. Oh, and I got my first standing ovation ever for catching a bass today. The fish kept digging down into the weed beds and we had quite a battle going on. There is a walking/bicycling trail along where we were fishing, and as I finally lippBest of luck to all outdoorsmen and women.
