Smallmouth bass is still pretty good fishing at public boat
launches, fishing docks & under I-90 bridge --all this fishing I've done have been on shore, public piers and docks... Smallmouth up to 4 lbs. were caught by my son and I ,my son is just hooked on how hard they hit his "rattle trap" lure and the fight. I have yet to take my boat out-- I guess I'm tired of all the pleasure boaters, skiers and jet skiers who drive or ski by you
within 20 feet of you when fishing the docks and then looking back at you in their wave sending you hitting the dock. A lot of bass can be caught on shore or docks. Docks--cast along the side of the docks, weed lines, drop offs and rocky bottom..Shore--cast next to weedlines, fish rocky bottom, bridge pilings and fan cast to cover the water better-I have cast over and over at a large rock for 10 min. cause I knew that a smallmouth had to be living in
there after no bite I moved to the left about 10 ft. 1st cast "wow" 3lb smallmouth came from the side of the rock and smacked at my rebel minnow coming from another angle. If no bite in 30min.-1hr go to another dock, pier or shoreline. Good luck
