We arrived at Potholes on the Moses Lake side of the Reservoir
and rough camped in the Crab Creek arm of the Dunes. The water level was still real high for this time of year. The plan was to fish in Crab Creek for the remaining Walleye and then to make a run at Medicare Beach to mix in some trout. One keeper Walleye fell prey to a Double Wammey at 7:00am on Sat. Since the wind wasn't blowing we decided to head over to Medicare Beach while the getting was good and it paid off. My friend Sean and I had
over 20 hookups in less than 2 hours on Flies tipped with a worm, Double Wammeys and F4 Flatfish. The largest going 3 1/2 pounds. The magic depth was 16 feet and trolling right on the bottom. We left there with a limit and tried again for the Walleye in the Dunes/Crab Creek area. Nothing. The next day showed how hot and cold the Medicare Beach can be.....no hook-ups
in two hours of fishing. We did boat a few more trout in the open water.
As far as Walleye,I found out as we were leaving (that always happens) that the Dam was the place to be. Looks like the migration from the shallows to the deeper water has happened. Jigging and trolling were the techniques we heard were producing good numbers of Walleye.
