I took a friend out for the day hoping to find the Smallmouth would
be fattening up for the winter,no such luck. So after very little action with the bass I could see my friend was bored (he is not a fisherman) and I had seen a lot of fish on my finder that I presumed were trout. I rigged him up with some powerchow and we did some mid afternoon bait fishing. After three hours we both had limits including a 19" cutthroat, 18" rainbow and lost one
of at least equal size and released six fish that were lip hooked. Both fish gave great fights and so did some of the smaller ones. We were using 3# leader with sliding sinker. My friend had a great time and was very proud of his catch and kept thanking me all the way home. The last hour before dark we cast for some Largemouth around the docks and only picked up three small ones that we released. The trout we kept will be going on my new smoker and
my neighbors will be happy campers(I like to share), as will I for I do enjoy smoked trout. The next few weeks should be excellent fishing on Goodwin and you can bet I will return soon. Any questions, I can be reached at orca@oz.net, Mark D. ORCA Guide Service. PS Don't miss out on the silvers when they start up our local rivers and think small for your lure selection.
