Stayed in Electric City on our yearly fall trip to Banks, and
launched at the Rest Area launch on Thursday. Beautiful weather,
lake pretty much to ourselves -- I think we saw about 3 or 4
other boats all afternoon. Fished Barker Canyon Cove for
smallmouth with
plastics and managed to catch 8 to about 1.5 lbs. My partner
didn't boat a fish. Fish are hanging in deeper water all over
the lake, generally around points, rock walls and riprap, as long
as there are15-40 ft flats nearby. Friday went out with guide
Chuck Spencer, and were blown off the lake at 1:15 PM -- 40-50mph winds. Saturday my partner caught a 3+ LB smallie off the riprap south of Steamboat, on a chart spinnerbait. The rest of the day was pretty unproductive for us, although a 73-boat bass
tournament was going on, and they were catching some fish. The
front that came through Friday dropped the air temp by about 7-8
degrees, and may have turned the fish off. Sunday we both got
skunked. Weather Saturday and Sunday was clear and sunny, with
water temps all three days around 66-67 degrees.
