I haven't fished many desert lakes yet, but this one located in the channeled scablands of Washington is a beauty. The is little development around the lake and it sets nestled in a cliff surrounded location on Lake Creek.

I tried my tried and true fish locator (green wolly bugger trailing a prince nymph. I had a couple solid strikes right away. no hook ups though. I fished this combo until I hooked and landed a nice (12 1/2 inch) Rainbow. It was a good fighter once it got close to my tube, then it tried to refuse to be landed. This trout was jumping and running for all it was worth. It surprised me because it didn't fight much until close to the dry world.
I hooked and released a couple other sporting fish. One was fairly large (est. 14-15 inches) and it broke off the leader just as I went to net it. It was using every trick in the book to shake the hook or break the leader. It had more tricks than me, so it never left the water.
Here is another lake I will return to. How lucky we are to have such fine water in Washington.
Speaking of water, it appeared the lake was "turning over" and the lake had an incredible amount of algae in it. I could barely see my fins under water??? Is it unusual for a lake to turn over this time of year?
Good luck to all!
