The perch fishing on the lake is at it's prime now. My sons and I went out this afternoon and caught non-stop perch ranging from 8-10" on the keepers with a couple to 12". We found the best bait is to cut small pieces of a perch and put that on a #6 hook. We fished in about 20 feet of water and found the bigger fish to be deeper, off the bottom. The smaller fish tended to be suspended and in shallower. A nice bonus on using the perch meat for bait is that it stays on the hook well and you can catch several before needing to rebait. This is a real advantage when fishing with a five year old!
