I think you definitely need a boat to fish Lake Chelan, especially this time of year. The water was drawn down what appeared to be about 20 feet, probably in anticipation of spring runoff. I fished from a dock at a private resort. The water was crystal clear and only about 15 feet deep at the end of the dock, instead of the summer depth of about 35 feet. Being the end of February, I figured the only thing I would be able to even attempt to catch from this shallow would be rainbows and cutthroats. There were cutts feeding on a hatch near the dock, but they weren't interested in what I had to throw at them. The fishing sucked, but the scenery and solitude was excellent. I will try again when the water is up in a few months.
