If you've fished here before, you know how mother nature dictates your fishing!! The Home of the Wind!! And when it blows IT BLOWS!!! I was very fortunate to have 6 immaculate fall days on this awesome body of water. 2 of those days the waves only got too a couple feet for just a couple hours and settled back to Glass on the lake. I guess that's why there are so many Huge Smallmouth here! Less Pressure, thank-you Mother Nature!! lol. I reaffirmed what I have found fishing all these years. Just because they, I mean 3-4 lbers, are here one fall season, doesn't mean there here the next year. Let alone the next day at times. BUT, don't give up if they are not in your little honey hole! Search the area , closely surrounding that EX Honey Hole and ,My God , you may be in for an extra big thrill! Thats what happened to me this past week.
I pre-fished prior to my 1st of 5 clients this week and was sad that the kids weren't home , where they normally are this time of year. So I looked around the general vicinity, looked over my map real well, again, and tried some spots adjacent to my Ex-Honey Holes. Finally, after a couple good days, 10-12 fish, I found the mother load! Consistent 3-4 lbers!!! My God why couldn't this have happened when I was Pre-Fishing the Bassmasters tournaments! The area I was catching them in was full of wood stick ups that were stuck on a hard bottom. Very snaggy I lost a lot of lead But I've always found where you tend to lose a lot of baits, that's where the GIRLS ARE!!! I really cant go into detail on baits etc.... but if you'd ever like to fish with me next fall give me a call or look me up at the Sportsman's Shows for an early booking!!! Just remember, if your fish aren't in your Honey-Hole . Look close by!!
