Hi Fisherman,
Well I'm back for another season! This time around I'm a true Washington State Fisherman. I took up residents this past summer. No more work for this guy back in the Midwest.
I enjoy fishing Eloika Lake very much, not for the fish but a good warm up lake for opening day. The weather has melted the ice far back enough for my 10' boat to get out on the open water on the south end of the lake. Please use extreme caution when boating! The large mats of weeds are submerged now and are unseen until it is too late. What a shame to allow 660 acres of beautiful water to get in such a state.
As Cabin Boy and I put out on the water from the boat launch there where 2 muskrats on the ice. By the time I got my camera out one decided to be camera shy. I did get a few photos of the other rat just sitting there, must be too many weeds for him or her also!
Out on the lake we could see Mt Spokane to the south and the hills to the north.
Fishing was a disappointment but it is early, water temp is about 38 to 41. Water depth runs from 8' to 1'. The south end outlet has a lot of water and hopefully the Bass will move in to them as the water warms up. On the south east side there is a fence which is in the water and lays under the water for a short distance, motor trap. Cabin Boy and I were skunked, not even one bite, DARN!
I rated this lake at a 3 because of the ease to get to and the beautiful site it has to offer. Hopefully the State will bring this lake up in depth and save this lake.
Until next time Happy Fishing!
