Put in my canoe at boat ramp at East end of lake about 10 AM and fished until about 4PM.
Lake level is about 1 foot below the end of the concrete on the boat ramp. Some of the folks with smaller boats are getting them out, but still unusable for the larger craft.
Lewis river by ramp is about 43 to 44F, but as you get out into the lake the water warms to 48 to 49 F. I trolled a small dark rapala
running about 10' deep in hopes that a large rainbow might think it was an oversized and noisy aquatic insect. Had one pretty good sized fish on just west of the Island on the southeastern side of lake. That was all the action I had. Marked a school of fish about 70' to 100' down at the dropoff on the west side of the island.. Didn't feel like going down that deep for fish. There is a reef that comes up there (on west side of island) and working the top of this reef and along each side looked to be the best bet for this lake.
However, one of the boats that made the harrowing launch from the end of the ramp reported doing very well along the north end of the lake using powerbait kinds of strategies....
Noticed one or two fish rise but that was about all the visible sign I had of any fish.
Water has a nice green color to it with 5' to 10' visibility. Should be lots of food.
I think things are going to pick up here as the water warms...
