I am a kid who is a local to the lake sawyer area. i have fished just about everywhere on that lake with my 10' fiberglass boat and minkota motor. the canal on the far side of the lake to the right of the boat launch is a great place for pumkinseeds and crappie with the occasional bass. The canal just around the corner to the right of the boat launch is a perfect place to catch huge large and small mouth bass. i have seen those bass eat baby ducks numerous times and i have caught a few using a banjo minnow. Near the middle of the lake by the 2 privately owned islands there was a place to catch monstorous trout but it seems to be fished out or they hae just moved on. i found this out by trolling at full throttle with just the tail half of a plastic worm when I felt an almost snagged feeling then saw a 25 plus inch rainbow jump clear out of the water about 70 ft. back. i turned off the motor and fought for about 10 minutes on 4lb. test line to have it snap right next to the boat. i went back later and cought that fish with my hook and worm in its mouth. i brought in about 7 of that sized trout in the coarse of a about 3 days. If you go to lake sawyer and find a new spot please email me at Jeremyjfrederick@hotmail.com. I would love to know a new place to spend my summer. Lake sawyer has some pretty good fishing if you know where to go and what time of year is best. I am just lucky enough to live near it.
