To Brian, who was wondering about crawdad fishing, and anyone else who was as clueless as I was before I started, I can help you on that...I find that a man named Terry Bullard makes great traps, his site is www.terrybullard.com. I have some of his traps and they are great...They work great and are durable. Otherwise, a lot of sports stores sell $7-$10 models made by like Frabill which are in 2 pieces that you take apart so they are smaller when you store them...I use about 40 feet of rope which is plenty enough line, and I use a little yellow float on the top (about the size of a softball but not as round) I have two of these setups which was like $30 combined for two. What I like to do, is go and catch perch and bluegill or whatever you can out on Lake Washington and keep a few of those fish and cut them up and bait the traps. I use a homemade bait hanger out of a shirt hangar and secure it to the top of the trap and make a U at the bottom and slide on the fish. Make sure to cut up the fish, usually in half and then cut them up a bunch to get scent running better when they are in the water. I have also used like Herring and stuff, but its fun to catch the bait. Next, its up to location...I go around Rocky beaches in about 10-20 feet of water...Let the traps sit overnight and check them...I also enjoy going with snorkel gear and flipping over rocks to find them and pick them up the old fashioned way...Its always fun..Good luck!
