On Memorial Day I was with a group of seven scouts and adult leaders. After
about five hours of fishing, we had caught our limit of 35 fish. The fish ranged in
size from 10 inches to 15 1/2 inches with the majority measuring around 12
inches. Most were caught while fishing from the bottom using various colors of
floating bait. Other bait fishers were having similar success as we saw three
other boats catch their limits. After about three hours of bait fishing, one of our
boats opted to try trolling and had fair success with olive wooly buggers.

I caught one of the larger fish, a 15 incher, that had been previously caught by
another angler. When I cleaned it out, I found another hook with leader in its
digestive tract. I stabbed a finger on the hook. I think that the reason why the
first angler lost the fish was from using light leader, 2 pound test. That leader
strength is fine for 10 inchers or smaller, but one risks loosing larger fish. I use
four pound test.
