This lake was rehabilitated by WDFW in May of 2005 to remove the thousands of bullhead catfish infesting its waters. The lake was re-stocked in July 2005 with 12,500 Rb & 4000 Brown Trout fry (3")

We got to the lake at about 11:00 am on a HOT May morning and fished for about 1 1/2 hours. I used chironomid & a jade woolly bugger, as well as a modified 1/16 oz rooster tail.

I made 42 casts and caught 42 trout!! All but 2 were rainbow at 11-12.5" and Fat. The 2 browns were also 11-11.5". My partners did every bit as well. This is an excellent C&R trout fishery - and a testament to good lake management.

I also spent 45 minutes up at "Mouse Pond" (catch-and-keep), and hooked into 4 nice Eastern Brookies. This pond was rehabbed the same time as Rat Lake, and planted with EB and Tiger Trout fry. The brookies I brought home were 11.5 to 13.5 inches and FAT. The first one I caught was 11.5" and weighed over a pound.
