My dad and I finally had a saturday off so we decided to try Wenas Lake for the first time. This was also my first trip out on my new float tube. After leaving Tri-Cities at 7:30 AM, we arrived at the lake at 9:30, and the first line was in the water at 10:00. After finning over to the dam, I began using a bobber and worm roughly 15 feet below the bobber. Within 20 minutes I had my first good bite, but missed the fish. Within 10 minutes my bobber took a plunge and I landed a small, but fiesty 9 inch rainbow. This fish loved the aerobatics! Next, I decided to move closer to the rock wall next to the dam after a low in the action. Within 2 minutes, I had a nice 12.5 inch rainbow on. After this fish, I decided to troll in with powerbait on the hook. Halfway back to my launch, my pole took a plunge and I had a VERY hefty fish on. Im guessing it was a big brown since I saw a few surface where the strike occured. However, he slipped the hook. I will be back to this lake in my boat next time! Tight lines.
