I took my girlfriend fishing this last weekend and we had a great time. This lake is so pretty but the winds do kick up pretty strong. I had no boat on this trip so I tried the standard shore technique. I had a bobber with roughly 3 feet of leader and a red salmon egg on the end of it. We caught a couple little trout but nothing too terribly impressive. I tried a black rooster tail with a red egg. Nothing! I tried a flatfish. Nothing! We decided to do a little snooping around the boat launch before heading over to bumping river and everyone we ran into had a smile from ear to ear so that was a good sign. Trolling the northeast corner appeared to be the most effective way to fish this lake. You better get there soon though; over summer the depth of this lake will greatly change, become very shallow and will expose the massive stumps that lurk just below the surface.
This is such a nice area for camping, wildlife viewing and hiking. A lot of people fish this lake at no surprise with how lenient W.D.F.W. is with the restrictions but unfortunately not very many people post their experiences from their trip on this site. Please do so! In my opinion, this is one of the nicest areas in all of Washington State.
