Arrived at the lake approx. 11 AM finding a mild breeze blowing down the lake. Fished with a sinking line and a Carey Special fly wind drifting down the lake. Not long after launching hooked up with the first fish of the day, a 16 inch bow. Eventually the wind velocity increased and wind drifting turning into nearly skiing for a few hours. The day was nice so I hung in there till 8:30 PM catching 6 fish total ranging from 12-19 inches.
Another reason for this late report was that I was waiting for a response from the WDFW concerning a 2006 Rule Change. As I was launching that morning, I had a conversation with an individual who indicated that he had never fished this lake but now with the change in regs allowing electric motors on lakes that are "SELECTIVE GEAR RULE" catagory, he probably would. I informed him that "SELECTIVE GEAR RULE" AND "FLY FISHING ONLY" are 2 entirely different catagories. The regs (page 63) had not changed the requirements for Pass Lake and therefore NO MOTORS ALLOWED was still in effect. The reply that I received from the WDFW, confirmed my assestment that the rule change allowing motors on "Selective Gear Rule" lakes DOES NOT apply to Pass Lake. Pass Lake remains a NO MOTORS PERMITTED lake. On my next trip to the lake I will post this e-mail on the message board at the launch area.
