I left work on some vacation time that I had and hit Beautiful milfoil I mean lewis lake. Yes its true..this place is absolutely full of millfoil and makes boating in some spots impossible. I took my pontoon boat over to the swampy side way back in the channels where it is flooded and overgrown and started my fishing saga. within 10 min I had caught 11 Croppy on a bobber and jig and also a plastic worm wacky rigged. The problem was that I was bass fishing. when I saw a huge school of fry swim past me I figured out the problem......they have already spawn! So I started to move out of there and for deeper water when I tossed a 1/2 black jig next to a tree trunk and Booyaaa the fight was on. I finaly got her in and lifted this 3.8 Lb beauty out of the water only to discover that she was still full of eggs. I put her back where I found her and moved back to the swamp and when some cloud cover came over for like 20 seconds the whole mode of the water changed and I couldnt get my line in the water fast enough for all the 1 lb and below bass. that went on for about 30 min then stopped as fast as it started. Well by now it was 1630 so it was time to go. As I was paddleing back on my pontoon I heard a boat and looked over my shoulder and low and behold there was a motor in the water. I waved him over and noticed that he was military and asked him if he knew this was a electric only lake. In true military fashion he pulled his boat out of the water quick fast and appologized. I really appreciated that he didnt know and when he found out he complied without incident.

Word of warning. Dont go back into the reedes and swampy overgrown area with anything other than a pontoon baot. If you cant turn around in place or on a dime yourr get horribly stuck...If you bring a float tube to this lake you might drown because of the milfoil!
