Hit the lake about 6pm Saturday night with my neighbor Dave. We just wanted to get in a couple of hours of fishing until dark, while it was cool. We caught a ton of small smallies as we drifted down the east bank. Down at the end we hooked into more smallies, a few perch and a medium-sized large-mouth. We found that pink and flourescent colored spinners got the most action. I did get a few along the rock walls while it was still hot outside by plunking deeper with a Texas Rig. As the light faded the color & action of the spinners got more attention. We had plans to head up the west banks but ran out of time & daylight. We were headed back to the launch at dusk when we noticed all the boats headed out -- with lanterns hanging overboard. We opted to stick around since we'd been casting so much and still had a cooler full of beer. We tied on worms & bobbers, lit up the cigars and shot the breeze under the near-full moon. We didn't come home with any fish, and we stunk of cigars and beers, so I'm sure the wives had their doubts about our wherebouts, but I did manage a picture of Dave on the bow of the boat with his goofy straw hat under the full moon. (I'm attaching the picture to the report, but it's a little bit dark, as you might imagine from a cellphone camera at night) I love Chapman -- I might not always come home with fish, but I always catch some, and always love the peace & quiet because of the 5mph rule. What a great evening on the lake! And next time we'll come prepared with lanterns & headlights to enjoy the overnight catch. Best of luck to you, gentlemen!
