Holy motherfishloads... my dad and i woke up early to do a bit of bass fishing at lake washington. I have only caught dinky little smallies before today... but today was definetly different. My dad and i were heading towards the lake washington/union "canal" (near Montlake bridge), when i rigged my rod a texas-rigged chartreuse colored twin-tailed grub (3 inches long), with a heavy wire offset hook. We stopped at Ballard Bridge and went under the bridge to try out the bridge cement posts there. The second we arrived there, i saw a little fish (perch?) dart out towards our boat... as if it was freaked out. Then a huge monsta' fish came out chasing it. I waited, hoping the fish would come back. Then, at my first cast (a pitch), i let it plop on the surface and wiggled it a bit on the fall and BAM! A huge smallmouth was on the other end of my line. i hanged out for dear life... and slowly reeled the fish in as my frantic dad prepared to net it. I thought to myself "holy crap, my rods gonna snap!". i kept rod tip up for the whole time, and landed the fish eventually by the net. After the landing, i yelled in joy as my dad whispered "shut up, you'll wake up the people in the houseboats" as he smile in joy. At the end of the trip, we weighed the fish with our fish-scale.... and it turned out to be a smudge away from five pounds. We measured the fish with a tape ruler, and it was 18 inches long. My personal and family record! Hurray. I love soft-plastics now! My dad, on the other hand, only caught a dinky largemouth and three perch. Hahaha. We're surely coming back next week... don't steal my new lucky fishing-hole :) !!!! Check it out..................
