RE:goals for the salmon and steelheaders out there
"see" a steelhead on the tolt river. If I could just see one, just one, then I would know all the hours I've spent going up and down that river were not in vain. If I saw one it would give me hope that at least I'm fishing for something. Right now I'm just catching branches. You know that they stop...

RE:is this how everyone salmon fishes?
I've only taken one king on yarn and it was scented. silvers take it better, and it works amazingly well for chums. Most of the snagers I see use black or purple corkies and black or purple yarn. I use large puffs or orang, chartreuse or pink yarn with no corky on about a 2-3 feet leader, and someti...

Make sure to count tribal fishing as commercial fishing, because its the same thing, gill net and lots of dead fish.

RE:Gigantic Salmon Found in California River
Who cares if he's long arming it??? It's a big freaking salmon, and more importantly, it looks like it completed its job (spawning) and keep those hog genes in the gene pool........ I thank god that this rare beautiful fish was found after it had finished spawning (hopefully with several fish) and ...

RE:Where did all the fish in Snoqualmie go?
Marc, thanks for the tips. I was having a hard time staying away from leaves and branches. On the plus side I did catch someones rapala in one spot. So if I wait for the rain to clear up I should be fishing again in March #-o Derrick I was debating going to the tolt/ snoqualmie merge but went high ...

Try fishing some other nearby rivers that flow into the sound, sea run cutts should be running strong now. The Tolt should have a few.

RE:Where did all the fish in Snoqualmie go?
Maybe the trout followed the salmon upriver.
Maybe the cutts went back out into the sound.
Maybe you were catching steelhead smolts and they went into the sound.
The possibilities are endless.

RE:How To Do A Borax Cure For Steelhead Eggs
yeah a good method. But if you are a true dedicated river junkie, you use 20 mule team borax, there is a difference in the curing process. And always be sure to cut large pieces of skein they handle better and you can later cut smaller pieces while drifting eggs.--S Thats more of a cure for eggs wh...

RE:Hey everyone!
I have a few questions for you, is the georgia adams hatchery on purdy creek and indian hatchery? Why doesn't the hoodsport hatchery do silvers instead of chums? Is there going to be a hatchery salmon/steelhead program on the north fork of the skokomish river? Why is the wdfw spending money on a hat...

How To Do A Borax Cure For Steelhead Eggs
This is a how to for curing steelhead eggs. I have not seen anyone else talk about this cure, but basically it is just a borax cure. These eggs are a lot firmer then most and will stand up to multiple casts and stay on the hook well. This is most effective for steelhead, but I have done fair for sil...

I have done this with fresh king salmon, except we just sliced a filet that what shaped like a burger, ad some mayo, and thats all you need.
The salmon burgers you get in the store just flat-out suck.

RE:How Do You Setup A "Corky" And Yarn?
I know makes no sense at all. I have caught more off these corkies than eggs, so far in my career . This is your job? Where do I apply? This is all good info, looks like I'll be river fishing soon since I probably wont be able to get my boat into Tapps before next spring. Maybe it comes easy for yo...
